Four Reasons to Book Your Next Family Session in the Photography Studio

Welcome to the new Beatific Visions Photography Studio in Mechanicsville, just outside of Richmond, VA! Outdoor and in-home family sessions have a special place in my heart, but there are definitely factors to take into consideration when determining the location of your next family session. Here I’ll list four reasons to book a studio session.

Reason Number 1 to Book a Studio Session: Predictability and Consistency

Let’s be honest. No matter how prepared you are, everything about an outdoor session is at least a little bit left up to chance. From blooming flower seasons to beautiful fields of grass being cut just before you arrive, mother nature can not be controlled by us mere human family photographers. When you’re tight on schedule and can’t be flexible with your session date or time, a studio session may be just what you need.

While my family photography studio just outside of Richmond, VA is predominantly natural light, it proves to be bright and cheery enough to maintain consistent imagery rain or shine. Even on the dreariest of days, the studio also offers the option of pulling out strobes and flashes to fill in the shadows. These first images of mother and baby were taken mid-morning while there was a downpour outside, offering soft, even lighting throughout our session.

In this second set of images, also taken mid-morning, there was full sun outside with direct sunlight streaming through the double windows, yet the images remain consistent with that of a rainy day.

Reason Number 2: Wardrobe

Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring – when you’re planning a studio session, you can wear what you want! No more fighting to wrangle the coats on and off between shots, or running to the car to blast the air conditioning to beat the sweat.

Reason Number 3 to Book a Studio Session: You Don’t Need to Clean Your House

I have three children, and I can tell you the very last thing I wanted to do after my babies were born was clean my house or get ready for company. At a studio session, all you need to do is pack up the family and head over! I make sure that the space is clean and clutter-free (plus well stocked with juice boxes and a treasure box for littles).

My mom was a family photographer when I was growing up, and about 99% of her work was in the studio.
